Hey all! I have been so busy with the start of the Class of 2019 season, I have not been able to get this last Class of 2018 session blogged! I had so many Class of 2018 seniors and really wish I had time to blog about them all!
I had so many beautiful seniors this past season, and Gwen was no exception. Gwen attended Anoka High School, which I am partial to as that is my alma mater! Gwen describes herself as a problem-solver, curious and determined! Gwen's extracurricular activities include playing on the Tennis Team, Key Club, Math League and Rock Climbing Club. WOW! In her free time she enjoys reading, volunteering, and learning about statistics and the environment. What an amazing young woman!
After having to cancel twice due to weather last fall, Gwen decided to have winter AND spring sessions. If you are looking for seasonal split sessions, ask me about it! I have several seniors who want both summer and fall or fall and winter sessions. However you want to work it, we can do it! We were finally able to do a winter session in February. The weather was less than stellar at a balmy 18 degrees, with a lower-than-10 degrees wind chill. Cold by even Minnesota standards. But we are a hardy bunch!
We did Gwen's session at Woodland Trails Park in Elk River. This is my absolute favorite park for winter sessions. It is beautiful! Gwen was looking for a cute, winter nature location and this was it! I can't stress enough how much I love golden hour photography. ESPECIALLY in the winter!
Gwen's advice to those with an upcoming senior session? Practice doing makeup ahead of time to see how it looks in sunlight. She also learned how to curl her own hair from www.wikihow.com a week before her session. She did a great job!
We then moved to Downtown Elk River for just a few shots before we just were too frozen to move! More advice from Gwen? BRING HAND WARMERS!
Gwen had her Spring session just before graduation in May. Spring is a beautiful time in Minnesota and perfect for a senior session. However, this year it was super hot and humid! She went from one extreme to the next! But Gwen did so well! She showed up in a sporty, short new do! She wanted to incorporate tennis so we started off this session at the Anoka High School tennis courts.
We then moved on down toward the river behind the high school on some beautiful trails. I had forgotten this area was behind the school! It was very buggy, but you wouldn't know it by her photos. I loved her beautiful spring dress!
After that, we moved to Downtown Anoka for just a couple more to catch the sunset, and it did not disappoint!
I also asked Gwen what her overall experience was with her senior session. Her response?
"Great! It was super fun and the pictures look great even though I was freezing the whole time!"
What are Gwen's plans now that she has graduated high school? She will be attending the College of St. Olaf where she will major in Environmental Studies and Statistics.
Good luck in your endeavors, Gwen! Thank you for trusting me with your senior photos!
