{Eleanora} Wonderful Newborn Lifestyle Photo Session | Rogers, Minnesota Family Photographer

Hi again, everyone!

I have a couple of sessions I'm going to post in one blog today.  Both of these sessions were done with the same amazing family!

When Breanne contacted me to discuss a maternity/family session, I was excited.  Breanne was a little hesitant, as her last experience with a professional did not go well.  I wanted to talk to Breanne about what she didn't like with her last photographer to make sure we didn't have the same issues.  After several emails back and forth, we booked a session.

Breanne liked the family photos she had seen in my portfolio at the Henry's Woods location in Rogers. This is a very popular location with families and photographers, due to the red barn and bridge in the woods over a stream.  The park has two distinct features that give a feeling of where Breanne and her husband Mark both came from.  The dense woods are reminiscent of Mark's upbringing in the North Woods and the red barn is reminiscent of Breanne's in Illinois's farm country.  At that time, Breanne's family consisted of her and Mark, and their cute almost-one-year-old son, Connor.  Breanne was due in late August with a baby girl.

We took some great photos of the family first, and while my daughter Baylee kept Connor busy, I took some couple photos, and ended with some maternity photos for her.

When I asked Breanne about the favorite parts of her session, she replied,

"Sheila and her lovely assistant, Baylee, were easy going and friendly, making them a joy to work with.  I loved that Sheila showed us some of the shots she had taken as we went and gave great direction during posing. And Baylee was amazing with Connor!"

A while after their family session, I heard from Breanne regarding newborn photos for their upcoming new little one, Eleanora.  I had only done one other newborn lifestyle session, and had been thinking about adding it to my offerings, so I agreed.

Eleanora was a few days old when Breanne and Mark welcomed us into their home for a newborn lifestyle session. She was so adorable, and the entire family was amazing. I don't think I did half bad for my second newborn lifestyle session.

After the session, Breanne had this to say,

"We worked with Sheila for a lifestyle newborn shoot. She was enthusiastic and had so many great ideas for images. Sheila was so patient when working with our newborn and toddler.  She got amazing shots of the two of them together as well as great images of our whole family. Not only is Sheila a very talented photographer, but we also appreciated her professionalism, bright attitude, and creativity. She is definitely worth hiring and we look forward to working with her in the future!"

Thank you, Breanne, and I definitely look forward to photographing your beautiful family again!

{Palmieri Family} Fun Family Winter-Fall Photo Session | Family Pictures in Elk River | Minneapolis Family Photographer

Hi again, everyone!

Let me begin by saying that I am seriously the luckiest photographer in the world. My clients are always so wonderful to work with. That's true of my session with the Palmieri family, too!

The Palmieri family consists of Joe and Kristin, with Ashley, Ava and Joseph. They love to travel and camp together and always enjoy fun family time!

We set up the session for the last Sunday in October. Who would’ve thought that we would get some snow on Saturday night!  We talked in the morning and I asked Kristin if she wanted to cancel. It was chilly, in the 20’s, but no too bad for Minnesota standards. Since all of our upcoming schedules were difficult, not to mention the fact we were heading into November, we decided to go for it.

We were so happy we did!  Location, Location, Location!  I have to say it was pretty amazing! Along with the snow, and of course the wonderful family, this all made for some beautiful photos!

I met up with the Palmieri's at a southern corner of Woodland Trails Park in Elk River, the entrance being down the block from their neighborhood. I absolutely love this park for winter sessions.

The outfits Kristin chose for the session were casual, and she tried to make them coordinate colors and patterns so they didnt distract. She also was going for a warm, cozy feeling.  She did a great job!

When I asked Kristin to tell me their favorite parts of their session and why they enjoyed it so much, she responded with, "We enjoyed our session because it was near our house and we love Woodland Trails, so it was nice to capture the trail we use so often as a background for our shoot, plus the snow added a beautiful backdrop!"

While the location and snow were great, it was the Palmieri family that made this shoot such a treat!

I could only hope that there is a snow storm before all of my family sessions!  One can dream, can't they?

Year in Review | Elk River, Minnesota Portrait Photographer

2017 was good to From Moments to Memories. So many awesome sessions and clients! I truly am so lucky to have worked with so many beautiful people. I have never dedicated so much time to my business as I did in 2017. At the end of 2016, I graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Web and Multimedia Design to add to my bag of tricks.

I spent endless hours editing photos, many mornings watching the sun rise. I worked almost every weekend, watched countless training videos and learned more about what I can offer my clients. I implemented a new management system and pricing structure to streamline my workflow, making things so much simpler for my clients. (And lets be honest, myself.)

Too many good things happened in 2017 I can't even list them all!  I was featured on the "Snap Society Featured Photographer" blog, made the 2017 Top Pro list from Thumbtack, and was voted Best Photographer in the Elk River Star News (my local newspaper) 2018 Reader's Choice Awards. I FINALLY started selling my nature, still life and other "non-portrait" images. This has been a goal of mine for at least five years. It has been a long time coming!  I also started offering lifestyle family and newborn sessions, which have been super fun for me!

My plan is to continue to come up with fun, creative sessions for my seniors and families, while continuing to grow and learn. I am looking forward to a great 2018! Thank you all for helping to make this happen!

Happy New Year!

Star News Reader Choice Awards 2018 | Best Photographer in Elk River, Minnesota

I can't believe it's been so long since I've posted!  What? Has it really been since the end of August? I had such an incredible summer/fall season with photo sessions! I just finally finished up my senior and family editing about a week ago. I had a couple of model shoots in November, and will be finishing up those this week. After the holidays, I will be getting back into writing/blogging so I can share all of the amazing sessions I had with you!

In the mean time, I wanted to share with you some exciting news I received last night.  Every year our local newspaper, the Elk River Star Newsasks its readers to vote on their favorite service/business for the year, i.e., janitorial services, boutique, dance studio, etc. I am super excited to say that I was voted Best Photographer in Elk River by the readers!  I can't even believe it!   The support I have received from my family, friends, clients and community has been nothing short of incredible and I wish to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart.

What am I working on during the "off season"? Right now I am working on a blog post telling you exactly what that may be!  My goal is to continue to give great customer service and quality to my clients, so that I can actually live up to the hype! HA!

Again, thanks so much for all of your support! I'll write more soon, but in the mean time I will leave you with this beauty I took a couple of weeks ago. It's available to purchase in my new store!  Make sure you stop by to check it out!

{Bergerson Family} Amazingly Fun Family Session | Minneapolis Family Pictures

Hi again, everyone!

I know I have said this before, but I will say it again!  I am seriously the luckiest photographer around. My clients are always so fabulous  to work with. That's true of my session with the Bergerson Family as well!

Rogers, Minnesota Family Photos

The Bergerson's consist of Mark, Breanne and adorable Connor, who just turned ONE!  Mark and Breanne are also officially expecting a little lady to join their young family at the end of August.  Yes! Connor is going to be a big brother! They are counting down the days until the cute little bundle is welcomed into our world!

Breanne contacted me looking for a combination Family/Maternity/1-year session.  She had some concerns, as the last time she had her maternity and newborn photos done, she was less than impressed.  After she filled out her family questionnaire, we talked about what she liked and what she didn't like about her last session. We chatted up to the session date about her expecations, as I wanted to make sure they were happy with their end results!

I met up with them late afternoon at Henry's Woods Park in Rogers, and the weather was perfect for photo-taking. Breanne liked the the park because it had two distinct features that give a feeling of where they both came from.  The dense woods are reminiscent of Mark's upbringing in the North Woods and the red barn is reminiscent of Breanne's in Illinois's farm country.

It was a little humid (not to mention the mosquitos) but they were troopers! It was the family that made this shoot such a blast!  My daughter, Baylee, came along to assist as she sometimes does. She was a big help!

I did a few family photos, then we went on to do a couple of Connor alone to celebrate his first birthday!  Breanne brought a "Where the Wild Things Are" book for him to share with us!  He is such a flirt, and made my job easy! So full of smiles and laughter!

Breanne wanted to get a few photos of just her and Mark, so Baylee entertained Connor for a while. He enjoyed hanging out with her while I took some couple portraits, and a few of Breanne alone.

Breanne's words of wisdom for other families preparing for a family session?  "Communication is key.  Let the photographer know exactly what you want.  Get your partner in on the decision making.  Not only can your partner provide great ideas, but being involved helps them know what to expect, from poses to props."  For more tips on how to prepare for YOUR family session stress-free, check out my blog post about it here.

Both Baylee and I had so much fun with this family!  I asked Breanne to relate her favorite parts of the session, and why she enjoyed it.  Her response, "Sheila and her lovely assistant were easy going and friendly, making them a joy to work with.  I loved that Sheila showed us some of the shots she had taken as we went along, and gave great direction during posing. And Baylee was amazing with Connor!"

Aww..Thanks, Breanne and Mark, your beautiful young family was a joy to work with, and I can't wait to work with you again! (It's going to be sooner than you think, but it's a secret - stay tuned!)
