Lexi plays softball for Elk River High School in Elk River and is a member of the Class of 2019. She also participates in Elk Buddies, which is a club at school that focuses on bridging the gap between special education students and those in general education classes! Lexi describes herself as outgoing, kind, and athletic.

We first started at the softball fields in Elk River. Lexi brought her bat and a softball to use as props in her photos. They are an essential part to her sport, so she wanted them to be featured!

We then headed to the Downtown Elk River area. Lexi wanted to stay in her hometown and have familiar backgrounds featured in her photos, because it is where she grew up! The weather was quite warm, but beautiful!

We ended our night at The Houlton Conservation Area and Bailey Point Nature Preserve in Elk River. These parks always make for such gorgeous photos! The sunset was beautiful. It made for another gorgeous golden-hour session!

We asked Lexi what advice she would offer to seniors preparing for their session. Her response?

"Bring a comb. Make sure you’re comfortable in your outfits. Make sure you have all your clothes set out and props. Also what locations and poses you want."

Lexi plans to attend college and possibly major in Social Work or Special Education.

Good luck in your endeavors, Lexi! Thank you for trusting me with your senior photos!

{Julie} Senior Cheer Session | Rogers, Minnesota | Rogers High School

Catching up on blogging with this beautiful senior! Julie is a cheerleader for Rogers High School in Rogers and is a member of the Class of 2019. She describes herself as having a sparkly attitude and a caring personality. Julie also is an avid weight-lifter, is a member of the National Honor Society, and participates in DECA.

We first started at the Rogers High School football stadium for her cheerleading photos. She brought her Letter jacket, pom-poms, and an assortment of hair bows. The weather was beautiful, however it was very windy and sunny, but we were able to work with it!

We then headed to Anoka, and utilized the three different locations in the Anoka area. The park is right on the Rum River, and has a lot of great nature scenery for backdrops. The downtown area also has great backgrounds, but these have more of an urban-feel.

Our last spot was also in Anoka, and it brought a more rural/country setting. The feed store has awesome farm-like backdrops that include a red brick building, some silos, and a few corn cribs.

All of Julie's outfits were very cute and worked very well with her locations! Julie chose to accessorize her outfits with pieces that had meaning to her. She got her hair done by Katie at Xtreme Salon in Otsego and had her nails done at Turbo Nails, also in Otsego. Julie's advice for those preparing for their senior session?

"Wear what you feel comfortable in. Make sure you don't wait until the last minute to finalize outfits, hair, and makeup."

Julie plans to attend North Dakota State University. She would like to major in architecture!

I also asked Julie what her overall experience was with her senior session. Her response?

"Super, duper, duper fun!"

Good luck in all you do, Julie! I know you will succeed in reaching your goals!

{Allison} Country Senior Session | Buffalo, Minnesota | Annandale High School

Allison attends Annandale High School in Annandale and is a member of the Class of 2019. She describes herself as happy, funny and kind. After meeting her, I would have to agree! I would also add beautiful, inside and out!

When Allison's mom, Leesa, contacted me for senior portraits, we had several different parks in mind. Allison was looking for a rural setting with a field of tall grass and wildflowers. She also had mentioned she wanted to bring her own wooden chair to use as a prop. A few days before Allison's session, her mom texted me photos of their yard and her brother's property. It all looked amazing, so we decided to use her family's property!

We started out at Ally's house on Sugar Lake. She wore a super cute floral two-piece dress, and we took some photos with her dog, Ollie. Ally got her hair and makeup done at Ulta, and they did a fantastic job!

We then moved on to Leesa's brother's property. We had so much fun riding around on the ATVs to different locations on his property. We also made use of his neighbor's hobby farm, with permission of course!

All of Ally's wardrobe choices were gorgeous! She chose to accessorize with dainty jewelry, because she didn't want anything too noticeable. Ally's advice for those preparing for their senior session?

Know what kind of pictures you want before you start!

Allison plans to attend Grand Canyon State University in Arizona. She would like to study Biomedical sciences. On her summers off, she will work at the Annandale Care Center!

What was Ally's overall senior photo experience like?

Amazing!! I love how they turned out.

Everything about this session was amazing. I have to say it ranks in the top three of my all-time favorite sessions I have ever done! The golden hour lighting was fantastic!

{Megan} Urban St. Anthony and Boom Island Park Senior Session | Minneapolis Senior Photographer

We started off our Class of 2019 sessions with Megan. We had so much fun with her and her mom near St. Anthony in Minneapolis. My daughter, Baylee, came along and assisted us with some behind the scenes fun!

Megan is a senior at Elk River High school and is a member of the Class of 2019. Her extracurricular activities include hockey, lacrosse and tennis. She is also a member of the National Honor Society. Megan took advantage of our split-session services and chose summer and fall sessions!

Megan was looking for a natural, outdoors look, but wanted an urban feel. Her and her mom chose Boom Island Park and the St. Anthony Main area of Northeast Minneapolis. I had shot in St. Anthony before, but not at this location. Boom Island Park was also a new location for me!

We started at Boom Island Park. I was disappointed that the walking bridge is closed for construction until further notice, however, we found lots of good spots. I was not able to get down to the park ahead of time to check it out, but Megan's mom did and had some great ideas for locations within the park. Megan loved the location, and I added it to my list!

There is a nice little bridge and a lighthouse within the park, with a great view of the Minneapolis skyline.

Megan had her hair done at Adagio Salon in Rogers, and did her own makeup. She is such a stunning girl!  Megan told me her biggest fear was how the weather was going to be, but it held off for us!  She brought some fun sunglasses that we incorporated into her session.

We then headed down a few blocks to the St. Anthony Main Restaurant district and the 8th Street Bridge.

Her overall senior photo experience?

It was great! I still have one more session in the fall, but I had so much fun at my summer shoot!

After high school, Megan plans to play hockey in college and major in education.

We cannot wait for her fall session!

{Gwen} Amazing Senior Session (Tennis) | Anoka Senior Pictures | From Moments to Memories Photography & Design

Hey all! I have been so busy with the start of the Class of 2019 season, I have not been able to get this last Class of 2018 session blogged!  I had so many Class of 2018 seniors and really wish I had time to blog about them all!

I had so many beautiful seniors this past season, and Gwen was no exception. Gwen attended Anoka High School, which I am partial to as that is my alma mater!  Gwen describes herself as a problem-solver, curious and determined!  Gwen's extracurricular activities include playing on the Tennis Team, Key Club, Math League and Rock Climbing Club.  WOW!  In her free time she enjoys reading, volunteering, and learning about statistics and the environment.  What an amazing young woman!

After having to cancel twice due to weather last fall, Gwen decided to have winter AND spring sessions. If you are looking for seasonal split sessions, ask me about it! I have several seniors who want both summer and fall or fall and winter sessions. However you want to work it, we can do it!  We were finally able to do a winter session in February.  The weather was less than stellar at a balmy 18 degrees, with a lower-than-10 degrees wind chill. Cold by even Minnesota standards. But we are a hardy bunch!

We did Gwen's session at Woodland Trails Park in Elk River. This is my absolute favorite park for winter sessions. It is beautiful! Gwen was looking for a cute, winter nature location and this was it! I can't stress enough how much I love golden hour photography. ESPECIALLY in the winter!

Gwen's advice to those with an upcoming senior session? Practice doing makeup ahead of time to see how it looks in sunlight.  She also learned how to curl her own hair from www.wikihow.com a week before her session. She did a great job!

We then moved to Downtown Elk River for just a few shots before we just were too frozen to move!  More advice from Gwen?  BRING HAND WARMERS!

Gwen had her Spring session just before graduation in May. Spring is a beautiful time in Minnesota and perfect for a senior session. However, this year it was super hot and humid!  She went from one extreme to the next!  But Gwen did so well!  She showed up in a sporty, short new do!  She wanted to incorporate tennis so we started off this session at the Anoka High School tennis courts.

We then moved on down toward the river behind the high school on some beautiful trails. I had forgotten this area was behind the school! It was very buggy, but you wouldn't know it by her photos. I loved her beautiful spring dress!

After that, we moved to Downtown Anoka for just a couple more to catch the sunset, and it did not disappoint!

I also asked Gwen what her overall experience was with her senior session. Her response?

"Great! It was super fun and the pictures look great even though I was freezing the whole time!"

What are Gwen's plans now that she has graduated high school? She will be attending the College of St. Olaf where she will major in Environmental Studies and Statistics.

Good luck in your endeavors, Gwen! Thank you for trusting me with your senior photos!
